We are thrilled to have on board, Gigi Akbas, our new Grants Officer.

Gigi applied through the 2027 training programme which prepares professionals for decision making roles in the grant-giving sector.  She will be hybrid working for us as well as Westminster Almshouses Foundation.  For St Giles & St George, Gigi will be fundamental in assessing grants for both our Education and Alms charities.

As a former recipient of a grant from The Prince’s Trust Charity to develop her own start-up, she well understands the difference funding can make to local communities and individuals alike.  With a background in the education sector working in disadvantaged areas, Gigi is passionate about inspiring the next generation.  Her volunteer work with children in Africa and with the homeless in London broadened her experience and knowledge of possible assistance from charities and support organisations.

Gigi’s experience is a good fit with the objectives of our charities.  When not at work, Gigi is a musician and enjoys spending time with her family.
