I’m thrilled to join the Trustees at St Giles & St George Education charity. Reflecting on my path here, I see it as the culmination of years devoted to education, mental health and equitable opportunity for young people, grounded in the core values of community and service.
Growing up in the Caribbean and moving to London, I was raised in a philanthropic Christian family, where caring for others wasn’t just taught, it was lived. At school, I adored English and sport, and my teachers sparked a love for communication, story and performance. Their belief in my potential gave me confidence and a desire to pass that gift forward. That’s why I trained as a teacher, earning a BA in Caribbean Studies and Education, followed by a PGCE.
Over the last 15+ years, I’ve poured my energy into supporting young people in mainstream and alternative education, and then mental health settings. In my current role with Nudge Education, I provide trauma-informed, one-to-one support for chronically disengaged young people, helping them reconnect with learning, purpose and belonging.
Joining SGSG feels like the natural next step. This charity’s commitment to unlocking potential aligns deeply with everything I’ve been working towards. My lived experience, training and leadership in mental health and education give me both heart and insight to contribute meaningfully. I’m passionate about championing access, co-designing initiatives with young people, and ensuring that grant-making not only funds but uplifts.
As a new Trustee, I’m excited about contributing to SGSG’s vision and learning from the wisdom of staff, volunteers, and the communities they serve. I believe in equitable funding, inclusive design and believing in young people before they believe in themselves. Thank you for welcoming me to a team focused on possibility, change, and lifting every voice.
